Der Eunuch. Ein schone comedi Terentii des poeten

Eunuchus or “The Eunuch” is a comedic play written in the 2nd century BC by the Roman playwright Terence. Based on the Greek play written by Menander, its complex interconnecting plot centers around young love and a familial misunderstanding. It was the most successful of Terence’s plays during his lifetime and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity at the end of the Middle Ages. This German translation of the work was printed in 1486 with 28 full-page woodcuts that were colored by hand and set the story in late medieval Germany. As such, they offer details about the daily life, architecture, and fashion of a German city during this period.
