Description
Leonardo da Vinci - Drawings III: Architecture and Inventions

The single leaf collection Leonardo da Vinci - Drawings III: Architecture and Inventions brings together remarkable drawings by the famous universal artist from three different collections: It contains individual leaves from the fascinating Codex Atlanticus in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, the artistic sketchbooks owned by the Institut de France and the breathtaking Da Vinci collection in the library of Windsor Castle. The 83 partly colored drawings cover altogether 80 leaves, five of which are folded. They feature architectures, architectural drafts and details, but also construction-related studies and inventions, often accompanied by annotations and notes by the ingenious Renaissance master. This makes the inventive ideas and the development of Leonardo da Vinci's (1452-1519) art of engineering tangible in a very unique way.
